The Backup Singer Who Doesn’t Hold Back: Lisa Fischer at Barbican

on May 23, 2016August 26, 2018 By CultureHunter

Authentic. This is the word that kept coming to mind as I watched Lisa Fischer, best known for being a Rolling Stones’ backup singer, perform last night at the Barbican in London. For those of you who don’t know her, see her sing Gimme Shelter with Mick Jagger here. This show was not an attempt [...]

Exhibition SmackDown: Rolling Stones vs Bowie

on May 9, 2016August 26, 2018 By CultureHunter

Yesterday afternoon I saw the Rolling Stones’ Exhibitionism at the Saatchi Gallery. As I left the final room of the exhibition, I felt as keyed up and excited as if I had been to a Stones concert. I was able to catch the last exhibition at the #munchmuseum before the collection moves to its brand new space on the Oslo waterfront (see last picture). The exhibitions presents well known Munch works (The Scream) as well as the works of other artists in the collection including Amaldus Nielsen, Harriet Backer, Ludvig Ravensberg, Teddy Røwde, Jakob Weidemann and Johan Berner Jakobsen.
Time for #christmas cookie, candy and chocolate art! Found a beautiful sweet shop in #Esslingen #germany
Fun exhibition at @somersethouse called ‘24/7’ which explores the non-stop nature of modern life. Lots of works exploring the impact of digital technology on our lives and some providing us with some solutions to get our lives back. Really funny work in which an artist creates silly machines that help us fool iPhone and Apple Watch into thinking we are active, freeing us from the constant monitoring of our steps!
For those who have not visited @nationalgallery in a while, this is the time. In addition to the #gauguin exhibition, the Leonardo Experience is a truly a unique way to view a single painting: The Virgin of the Rocks. Each room investigates a different aspect of Leonardo’s practice and approach, culminating in a spectacular presentation of the painting itself.
